Meet a Crocheter, a public Facebook crochet community with more than 144,000 members at the time of the announcement, is inviting its members to add their dots to World Crochet Map.
Who Meet a Crocheter is
Meet a Crocheter is a public Facebook community dedicated to crochet. At the time of the announcement, the group counted more than 144,000 members. Within World Crochet Map, the partnership is currently contextualised around Nigeria and other African countries, where the community is particularly active.
How the collaboration works
Meet a Crocheter publicly presented the initiative as being run with World Crochet Map and shared a dedicated partner page with its members. From that page, anyone who crochets can add a city-level dot to the map in under a minute, for free, without an account or a password.
What we measure
We look at four aggregated indicators only: visits to the partner page, sign-ups started, profiles created, and the conversion between them. Nothing is reported at the level of an individual person.
Privacy and independence
No personal data is shared with Meet a Crocheter. This is not an affiliate programme: no commission is paid, and participation is free. World Crochet Map remains an independent project.
Why it complements the BVFA pilot
Our first Community Partner pilot, with Brazos Valley Fiber Arts in Texas, tests a local, physical activation: printed QR codes, in-person meet-ups and a single region. Meet a Crocheter lets us observe something different. How a very large online community engages with the map. Together, the two collaborations tell us how the programme should work both on the ground and at scale.
